Is there any benefit of buying a new Dark Horse crank over getting the factory one trued, pinned, and welded? .
I guess this is for the LRS? If so, going with their crankshaft eliminates the counterbalancers. I don't know if they can get it to the point that the vibration is the same or less than the dual counterbalanced engine. It does not appear that any of the places doing balancing, at least Dark Horse and Revolution Performance, are balancing with the counterbalancers included. If you are good with the amount of vibration you have now, then truing and welding will probably lessen it even further.
I had them repair mine. I was asking about costs, so they knew that was a factor. I ask them if S&S crank would be cheaper, they said no. I don't understand that, but went with it. They reused my flywheels, new rods, pin and bearings, welded and trued, plus cam bearings, injectors, studs and bolts 1900. I picked up and dropped off. I had a bad crank that needed fixing. wasn't trying to get the most of it.
