Sorry to hear about your mechanical issues. Sounds like things went south quick.

I had Wood Alpha Directional Knight Prowlers in mine, along with the S&S cuffs. My engine was much quieter than stock with those lifters. Best of luck on your repairs.

Since you went stage 3, with HD components good on you for the ESP, that will of more than pay for itself with a new updated engine. I think someone had asked about lifter cuff's, since HD did the stage 3, unless you specifically had bought or requested some S/S cuff's, HD doesn't make or install those as part of an upgrade. I don't recall when you do a HD stage upgrade by them if they have a good, better, best lifter option, I'm guessing no. When I did my stage 2 myself last winter, with FM package of Woods cam, they sold the S/S premium lifters instead of the Woods, since they were out of stock, but I also opted for the S/S lifter cuffs.
Wonder if your motor replacement will be a Stage 3 upgraded motor or just a motor replacement, or how that works. Good luck Sir!
The only recommendation from the dealer with the Stage III was the oil pump. I don’t know for sure, but assume they are the stock units since they are not mentioned in the kit and not on my bill. They will be in the bike moving forward!

Yeah it went from running fine to not instantly. First a miss and sputter to flat out shutting down all within a 1/4 of a mile. Thanks for your feedback.

Ok, someone please explain what these “cuffs” are, and how they may or may not have contributed to this issue?

The local dealership that we purchased the bike from picked her up on Thursday and they checked it out this morning. We had a lifter failure and the engine is full of metal. The good news, at least so far is we have the ESP and it’s good through September.

I missed the part where it was inspected, Keep us posted, sorry about the failure. I had a stage III fail at 15,500 miles on my 2017, mine was done before delivery, no oil pump upgrade then, mine sumped

Concur. I did the exact same components when I did my cam work. Zero clatter, rattle or ticking on startup. The Wood Alpha Directional lifters are highly recommended by Fuel Moto.

I think I'd be surprised to learn that oem lifter cuff failure caused this engine issue. If it did, it would be the first time I've heard of it in a non big bore motor.

I do not know at this time what caused it. Based on some YouTube videos I watched today it seems that the cuffs are an issue. I'll report back when I have confirmation.

Here's a thread I had missed:
