Default Exhaust gasket install tool

I was talking to a friend about giving me a hand throwing on a new head pipe and he was asking if I had an gasket install tool. I’d never used one before and started googling. All I found for was for evo and TC no m8. Is there any difference between the way the pipe sits on the head between the TC and m8?
this is the tool in question for reference

It’s easy to make one just do a search on YouTube , usually less than three bucks at Home Depot for the required parts

I believe this is the tool.

When I was reinstalling my exhaust I ordered an exhaust flange when I ordered the gaskets, and just pressed the gaskets in with the flange, screwed down with the two nuts on the studs.

I have had one of these kits for other things and the ehaust gasket fit one of the included sizes perfectly, agle wise and diameter wise. Handy set to have for setting seals, races, and whatnot as they can be used the angle way or the flat way.

Kinda think your over thinking it. If you worked in a Harley shop and ever minute counted to you, maybe.

Line up header pipe so you don't need to juggle it doing it.

Careful push in the crush gasket. If it's lose,. Stick it with whats handy. Install header square and stug up the stud nuts.

Not an expert and only done 5 but I'm not sure why you need a tool. Ever one I pushed in were snug enough and flexible enough they went in and they stayed in from finger pressure .

That tool in 5 is a free loaner tool at AutoZone. I borrowed it and another when I rebuilt my 4 cylinder, transmission and transfer of my 93 Wrangler.

I put my M8 exhaust gaskets (Cometic) in the freezer over night. I cleaned the carbon from exhaust ports fairly well where the gaskets fit, and was able to push them in by hand with very little effort. The gaskets did not distort while pushing them in.

Tighten the nuts evenly to crush / spread the gasket evenly, following the procedure in the manual. Then final torque following the specs.

Those James knitted wire gaskets just fit right in with your fingers. If you are careful installing the pipe, and torque them evenly, they come out perfect.
