Default I got tired of dumping oil when changing the filter.

As written in the title. I got tired of spilling oil when changing the filter.. Don't know if this will work but I extended the filter a little so can install a drip catch that should trap all the oil. It extends the filter some and adds a groove that a filter drain can hook into to keep the oil from dribbling.. Will have to wait for the next oil change to see if it works..

I just use the m8 oil drain catcher and shove a couple thin cut up pieces of bed sheet or pillow cases under it with a long flat head screwdriver..when I remove it all there is never any oil mess on the engine or anywhere. Works like a charm every time

Same. Never had an issue with the HD oil catcher.

I have one but I suspect that you guys do with the bike on the side stand. It might work that way but I use a lift. I stuff the orange plastic tray under the filer and stuff those blue mechanics paper towels around the filter and it still leaks about 2 tablespoons. That oil gets hung up in the plastic connector cover under the motor, and drips for a few runs..

valid point..I actually started doing the rags stuffed under the catcher when doing the wife's trike because when upright there's more opportunity for some oil to work its way out and down..the rags caught the little residual spillover...but on the jiffy changes come out damn near spotless..I did figure out very early on that snapping the catcher into place properly matters...if pushed too far back it loses its seal...like everyone, I can't tolerate messy oil spills

On the rare occasion that happened, I would just spray everything down with brake cleaner and that cleaned it right up.

How in all this time, someone hasn't made a screw on adapter (like Max just did) that has a 1-3 inch lip around the sides and bottom to collect the dripping oil and funnel it somewhere is beyond me.
Kinda like a mini version of the "orange thing" but actually part of the adapter interface.

Seems like there would be a great market for that if priced right.

I just make a trough out of the filter box punch a hole in the top and bottom on the outside edge of the filter and let it drain overnight. Works for me. I always drain oil at the end of a ride so it's good and hot and let it drain overnight.

Hell with all of that. I put these on all my bikes. Makes changing the oil a joy now. No mess! Oil filter rel;ocation kits. Takes about thirty minutes to install. Lowers oil temps some as well.

I really don't care for moving the filter.. Now you've got oil lines to deal with. They can leak. You end up replacing them every 4 to 5 years.. On my evo bobber the oil lines are all rubber. They get replaced at about that interval.
