I use a lot of distilled water in plastic jugs so have plenty of them around. I cut a piece, shaped to fit, out of an empty one and slip it under the filter before removing. Takes about a minute and does the job. '00 WG.

Same here, punch hole in bottom edge of filter, let it drain, then remove.

I really don't have any problem with my 00 fxdx. Even the 07 EGC with HD cooler is OK.. The M8 is more of an issue and a lot of it is due to the bikes getting serviced on a lift where the bike is upright and not on the side stand. I bend over too much and my back is shot for a week... Knees don't bend like they used to.

My Low Rider S is a messy oil change compared to other bikes I've owned, even on the side stand. I think your spacer is time well spent.

This, bike upright on the lift with a rag under the trough, except it just drains while I drain the oils and perform all the other service items. Plenty of time to drain the filter.

Max has been on a fabrication frenzy of late.

Nicely done.

[QUOTE=Peak Seaker;20579725]Hell with all of that. I put these on all my bikes. Makes changing the oil a joy now. No mess! Oil filter rel;ocation kits. Takes about thirty minutes to install. Lowers oil temps some as well.

I could have sworn, that setup doesn't fit the M8 bikes.

I do a similar trick but use and old pushrod for my drain. Took one end of an old pushrod and cut it off at ~30 degree angle. Take the pushrod and hammer it into the end of the filter near the bottom, and the other end drains the oil our past the frame to a drain pan on the lift. Once that's in, punch another hole near the top of the filter to allow air in, then go about the rest of the service. By the time that all done, the filter has drained and I just remove it. No mess at all.

I find a piece of cardboard and some paper towels does the trick. Easy peasy, no mess and it goes right in the trash when done.
