Default M8 touring, adding oil cooler

I have a 2021 Street Glide, and with added lowers. I do appreciate the Rear cylinder cut out feature, but I notice it activates sooner than I'd prefer so I'm thinking about adding an oil cooler, and having the dealer flash (if necessary) to operated the fan. So I'm wondering for those that have added this fan (HD SP1 or aftermarket re.) If they noticed a difference or delay in auto fan control running the fan?

Thanks in advance
Brian

I could be wrong but I don't think an oil cooler will have a material affect on the EITMS feature

On the new bikes, the EITMS appears to be activated based on ambient temperature, if it is over 80 degrees or so it will come on automagically when you are stopped. It doesn’t mean your engine is getting too hot, it is activating to prevent the engine from getting too hot. Others will correct me if I am wrong.

This seems to be how mine behaves.

adding the lowers to an oil cooled engine may make the ET higher in Summer by restricting air flow, at speed...which may increase oil temps..so you could add the HD oil cooler fan to your OEM oil cooler to help reduce oil temps during stop and go traffic, idle to up to 25 mph or so...EITMS is gonna' do its thing still and if you are concerned about felt engine heat being too hot for comfort you can add the HD Cool flow fan..not sure if any of this resolves what your main issue is though...I have always left EITMS activated since it came out...I can tell you that on my 2020 oil cooled 114, its activation operates much more seamless and transparent than previous versions..it's barely noticeable in comparison to Twin Cams and even than my 2017 oil cooled 107

a couple replies: I don't or didn't plan to make out as an authorty on the cyl. deact. feature, and thanks for trying to assit, but on the 2021 (and likely more or all the years), that rear cylider de-actvate feature can be selected or shut off, and no, it won't come on, even when selected, automatically when ambient temp reaches 80 degrees (it's based on need, and engine temp..) I just thought I better clear this up first

Yes, I have to suspect that my original posted question wasn't clear enough..of course blocking air flow makes a difference..but no, embarssing mid-frame fan isn't going on my bike (and I will avoid a larger displacement race so not to aggrevate the cooling issue) it is the feel, and sound running on 1 cylinder that I dislike while sitting a a stop, and would like to prolong the need for it reaching the set temperature trip point..so I'm looking the most compact, integrated solution..ie a possible fan to the oil cooler..but base on as success stories that others might have/able to add here..did it help you/them with this issue?..

Thanks

As stated previously, there likely is nothing that will delay EITMS kicking in.

just disable it permanently if you dislike it that much..it's a personal preference thing..it has never bothered me at all so I leave it on to perform its intended function

Doesn`t it already have an oil cooler?

I have always thought the EITMS was nothing but a placebo.

Rear cylinder goes dead; front cylinder must make more power (and more heat) at idle just to keep the engine at idle rpm, what is the advantage to that?

If I`m stuck in traffic I don`t worry about the engine, I just worry about me overheating.

If the traffic isn`t moving, just shut the engine off.

During testing they idle these engines for hours at a time.
