Default Oil Cooler Guard (or lack there of).

The newer SGS that have an oil cooler come with the "Guard" that does nothing to protect the oil cooler.

On a recent trip to Michigan, I hit something in the road that flew up and hit my oil cooler. Wasn't sure what it was and what it hit so, I pulled over to take a look. Turns out, what ever it was hit the oil cooler. Left a pretty good size dent in the cooler but, luckily didn't punch a hole in it.

Since then, I've been looking for a "Protective Guard" for it. Of course, Harley has nothing. Searched on line and found on on Amazon, $55 bucks for some sense of protection is pretty cheap.

Looks pretty good also. LOL

A acquaintance of mine wasnt as fortunate. I always thought of the oil cooler in that location, that it could be subject to stones or whatever. Think ill start looking into a oil cooler guard.

I guess you don't know what fabrication means....and it works & looks like the $60 ripoff. And at the time I made them there wasn't a part for it. Mine looks a little dirty as I do ride it too!

I pay the least I can for the bike I want, and save money everywhere I can on everything.
