Thanks!
Its very well mannered, easy to ride. I have just over 4750 miles on the build. I have done 6 or 7 group rides with 10 bikes or so in the mountains never an issue, easy to ride and smooth. I have done several 300 mile days on the bike in the mountains. That said no really long trips yet. Will be riding it to Eureka Springs AR this week end, I doubt it will be an issue at all, does well with cruise set at 80mph. Just be careful if you grab a hand full of throttle over 3000 rpm.......

Roll on passing power is incredible.

CR-480 is a good choice for lower compression big in builds. Darren of Shaffer Performance uses that cam in lots of his builds with great results. He has also built a mild compression big inch with the CR-482. It had good numbers too, and good curve. I talked with him about using it with more compression. Shocked at how much compression woke that came up.

Check out Dyno runs Lots of different builds with different cams. quite a few CR-480 builds. My CR-482 build.

Also check out Builds with testing of how each step helps, good info. Towards the end of this link Darren has a CR-482 build with much lower compression than I have.

Thanks Dave.
Really opened up some ideas here.

Not going to lie, that's some silly power right there... Makes me almost want to scrap all the plans that I was thinking about and give this a long hard look.

That kind of extreme build 12:1 130” is what I don’t want. Very impressive numbers though. My thinking was that even WM8-408 and 11:1 would be too much for my use of travel bagger. I want it to feel relaxed with some more torque and power. 128 mod is so easily available that I want to take it.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of tunner do you run on a big built like that? Thanks

Would love to do something like that one day 👍

I have the CR-480 in my 114" Road Glide Special. I can only imagine how it would run in a big bore with head work and the accompanying mods. Torque for days...

I was not suggesting that compression. Look at links in my post. Darren has built several with the CR-480 at or below 11.0 compression. If you follow all his post, you see what just a the cam does, then what it does with a bigger throttle body, then with head work and so on. He also did the same with the CR-482.

I did not use the WM8-408 and several other cams with over .500 lift. Great cams, but for a bike going to see 15K or more miles a year I felt it was to hard on the valve train. It was recommend with that much lift and pressure on the valve stem tips they be inspected every 10K miles. Also the M8 likes different duration on intake and exhaust.

My build is not as extreme as you think. My target was 152 square though.
