Default My Air Cleaner Mods

I like the look of the stock air cleaner so I have modified my stock air box and am going to use the K&N HD1717 high flow air filter for my cam upgrade.

looks good..but just thinking out loud..not sure that screen adds anything...seems when solid the air rushes straight in and circulates around the entire housing with velocity, whereas with that it seems the air rushes straight in and immediately exits out the bottom....I could be wrong but just my observation

I don't think it rushes in with much velocity with the lower fairings in front. Most aftermarket cleaners have no airbox at all.

One of our forum regulars did the same mod a few years ago. Worked well from what I remember.

Yeah, that was Strych9. I happened to come across his 'how to' video on YouTube the other day. It was very well done.

Just thinkin out loud this eve. AC filters can be swapped out, as with the covers and housings.
The backing plate, the intake upgrade, needs an exhaust and a tuner upgrade to make work correctly.
You can take the tuner map and get it dialed in half ****, or you can get a dyno and have it peaked performance.
The tuners on the market with the maps are entry level. There are performance tuners, and usually the guy doing the dyno has some serious input to which one.
I do not believe in restricting myself to HD tuners, monopoly that only they can dial in.

Y'all know this. We all cut corners trying to be frugal but when it comes to performance I do not believe in cutting those corners.
Performance first, then do the eye candy and jewelry for the scoot.
