Default Changing out Engine guard on 18 twin cool Road glide ultra

Wanting to swap out my chrome engine guard for a black one..How big of a job is it to remove the lower fairings with the cooling rad and lines in them? Or can I just unhook and suspend while I hook up new guard? Anyone ever do this?

I just recently replaced my engine guard on a 2019 Ultra Limited due to an accident. It was much easier than I anticipated. You don't need to remove the lowers and radiators and such.

Just remove the lower fairing mounts from the engine guard and let them hang while you maneuver the old engine guard out and the new one in.

Of course, this is if I remember correctly... I'm getting old.
