GTS radio arrived for GT swap but USB cable delayed
#41
I completed the swap out of my GT BOOM for the new GTS BOOM upgrade. This was a pretty easy install. Basic tools and very good instructions kit includes. I used the upgraded USB cable as outlined. I also upgraded my XM radio antenna. The kit includes a new GPS antenna and a replacement right hand control switch.
I swapped the XM module from my GT radio (76000233) over to the new GTS. Pretty easy but you’ll need a small torx bit (7.5).
After the swap, I took the bike to the dealer to have it mated/flashed. No issues and the radio runs great. XM is active. Very pleased with the upgrade. And now I have the addition of CarPlay which is a major improvement from my perspective.

Its just a different plastic cap for the right hand blinker switch. Instead of an “Info” symbol the new cover has a “return” symbol. Its doesn’t really change anything. Just has a new symbol to reflect a different function on the GTS Boom.

Completed this swap yesterday... I went ahead and swapped the instrument gauges along with the GTS Boom! radio. Took me a slow-and-steady three hours to completed. Dealer-flash scheduled for Wednesday - can't wait.
Out with the old...
In with the new!
Few observations / my experience:
Dealer flash Wednesday:
Looking forward to enjoying this.
Out with the old...
In with the new!
Few observations / my experience:
- Straight forward install / very pleased
- I purchased / installed the new USB cable
- I moved the existing SiriusXM module to the new unit
- I DID NOT swap the right-hand switch cap yet - didn't seem like it wanted to come off (?)
- Radio fired-up w/ CVO badging
- Radio operational but no sound
- Apple CarPlay operational
- No navi / only compass
Dealer flash Wednesday:
- WHIM
- Audio config
- SiriusXM
- Navigation w/Maps
- TPMS Info
Looking forward to enjoying this.

Ha — definitely is so. I could not read the CVO gauges, especially during the day. Numbers are too small and contrast to weak for me. Love my new dash, both day and night.
