Looks like Harley has made the BOOM GTS upgradeable for '14-'18 Rushmores
I just noticed that Harley now lists the BOOM GTS as being an upgrade system for the older Rushmores that came with the older BOOM GT radios. Is this new or did I miss this change along the way? I thought the Soundz module was necessary but according to the Harley Parts catalog the new BOOM GTS system with Carplay can now be upgraded to any Rushmore bike with just the upgrade of the USB Connector P/N 69200031A.

With the Sony XAV7000 installed on a Harley "You will no longer have access to your "Information Screen" to view EITMS, Oil Pressure, Ambient Air Temp. You will also lose the feature where your factory Harley deck tells you the closest gas station when you're running low on fuel. Also, becasue the icons on your factory Harley deck are no longer present when you switch to the Sony device, your right hand control joystick mirrors your left hand control capabilities - such as changing songs/stations and increasing and decreasing volume."
I also don't believe the Sony is compatible with the Harley CB hand controls so you'll lose the CB use as well.

GREAT info. Thanks OP. Quickly scanning the installation doc shows there there is a new USB cable and a DT-II download (configuration) to enable the radio in those older bikes. Doc also mentions Roadglides.
76000834A for Roadglides
76000829A for Batwings

You'll have to give up a few things if you go to the Sony plus the Harley Amp won't be compatible. So add the cost of an aftermarket amp to the Sony price.

Its just too bad that either way you go, there seem to be some limitations. Which is pretty much why I have just stuck to the original 6.5 in my 14 Limited, which honestly, does what I need it to do 98 percent of the time (play music). Id have been fine with the 4.3 honestly, (and some day would probably have preferred it) but the Limited of course came with the 6.5.

Yea, I knew about some of those limitations, some I don't care about, some are new to me (so thank you for the info )
