I was told by some old dude on a Rushmore era trike a few years ago that he had several Harman Kardon stereo head units replaced under warranty...each replacement had problems..he said he 'discovered' that when HD was shipping out warranty replacements they were actually refurbished units from previous faulty problems..so not getting brand new ones under warranty..I can't verify the truth to his 'story'...but guess I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it was

no, it was pretty common knowledge that when you had your harmon kardon head unit replaced under warranty, that you were not getting a brand new unit back. that's why so many folks just bypassed that and sent their stuff off to iron cross and had some additional updates done at the same time.

They all do that. New cell phone has a replaceable warranty issue....guess what you get MOST of the time. A refurbed one. This is a BIG pet peave of mine. Been with verizon for over 20 years. I've had two phones that I had to have replaced under warranty. Both were replaced with refurbed or used phones.

funny thing is my wife just retired after 29 years in IT at a Fortune 500 company, she was the Mobility Device specialist..phones returned for upgrades that still work fine get tossed in the garbage..they treat iPhones like BIC lighters..and we're talking thousands of these..electronics aren't worth much used

I still have a replacement HP Officejet Pro 8615 in my roof space. I refused to accept a refurb, 2months after my purchase developed a two tone buzzing sound from the power supply in it.
I finally won my arguments that I hadn't walk into the store, paid full price and walked out with a refurb, so I was expecting a new for new replacement. They did!
After six months of telling them to come pick the refurb up, they said and I quote "it's not financially viable for us to retrieve the unwanted printer, feel free to dispose of it" ...so I've kept it for spares one day, just in case.
