Its all good. Just one of the many reasons I wont buy any new bikes from HD- ever. Fortunately, I can fix anything on them myself, I had some experience a few years back where getting warranty work done was like pulling teeth. Service is pure ****, and they take issues like this one and try and sweep it under the rug and just leave those who caught the damage out to dry. Fact is, if it outlasts the warranty, even by one day, and even if the damage is due to their own, engineering shortcomings- as in, the **** should have had a recall- they dont care. Oh, they pretend to, all the way to the point you give em that money and roll off with that time bomb.
In any case, if anyone happens to have upgraded to Baker or something, and has a GOOD transmission to sell, my friend is in need.

they ain't for everybody..our 2017s had lots of problems after combined 75,000 miles..our 2020s have had zero issues or problems of any kind whatsoever after combined 55,000 miles now..the M8s had growing pains but have matured as expected going on 5 MYs..we love our new Harleys and will buy more when these wear out

They may be reasonably sorted by MY 2020 but my two M8s are Tweener years: '`8 (RG) and '19 (LR) so my fingers are crossed as both are now out of warranty. Mind you, other than the recalls on the RG, hydraulic clutch and primary case vent, it's been a decent bike that (thus far) has not ;et me down.
What has deteriorated significantly for me is my confidence in the MoCo to put our a good product and then stand behind it. Remember the "millions of miles" they said they tested the M8s before release? None of these seemingly to some "acceptable" growing pains occurred? No sumping? Transfer" Third gear failures? Remember two fobs? Heel shifter, etc.? Don't even get me started on the Stealerships. How many Touring, ADV-Touring or Sport -Touring bikes do you have to immediately change the seat and shocks, not for improvement, but just to ... you know, maybe like ...tour? My point is that if the MoCo chinches, cheats and cheaps-out on things we ELUs can see - it begs the question as to what they are doing with the things we can't see.
All that being said, I like H-D motorcycles and will always ride them - but not exclusively and I'm done with anymore new ones.
