Cousin lost a water pump on his 2019 Limited.
I certainly hope that his was a fluke for sure. He and his wife took off from Tn. to Yellowstone and on into Sturgis, he sent me a message and asked, guess what went out on my bike, well the 1st thing I thought off was oil pump, he replied water pump.
Said the service mngr. at the stealership said this was only the 2nd one they had seen. My cousin say's, I'm glad it was under warranty because it would have been $835 if it was out of warranty , I said no way, the pump is only $300, talk about price gouging !!!!!

I posted this to really see if anyone else had heard of the new pump failures, but then again should have known someone would say this also. I was very surprised myself and you are correct, if it's mechanical it can and will break. Again, hopefully it will be a fluke and nothing comes of it and the New system will prove to be a superior pump !!!

M8's don't have a stellar reputation on the touring bikes and the water pumps were a huge problem when the water-cooled heads were introduced in 2014. Recent history gives owners a reason for learning and dispersing information.
I usually hang around the Touring forum and only come to this forum to learn if the M8 issues have been fixed. $30,000 is a lot of money and I'm not trading my 2014 until the M8 is fixed. Can't know its a fluke (or not) until enough folks give reports.

Well glad your cousin got it fixed quickly and under warranty.
I have not heard of many failures on these since the 2017 and newer models.
A friend replaced brake calipers on a Jeep. Had lot of problems and sure enough one was bad. Then this last weekend on the same Jeep the starter went out. Bought a new reman one and it worked perfectly 9 times! Crap happens.
