I’ll fishline off the old ones and clean it up with 3m adhesive remover. I did this once before, and it was a major bitch getting off all the 3m VHB they use. I bought a 3m wheel you put in a drill that supposedly pulls off the tape w/o hurting the paint. However I’m a bit apprehensive about that, I may just take it slow and roll it off and rub my thumbs raw in the process lol.

The 3M wheel works great, and won’t hurt your paint. I debadge every vehicle I purchase this way. Pop it in a drill about half speed in low gear with very little pressure.

It’ll take you longer to grab your drill and chuck it up than to remove the stickers.

OP, I didn’t care for the new diamond badge either. Swapped mine out for the round V that was on my ‘10 RKC. Also picked up a set of leather bags (oem) just because...

I think it looks great. Take your time and get the decals square and centered up on the tank. Ive seen some badges put on that should have looked mint, but end up destroying the look of the bike.

I like them, man. I went somewhat similar route, but choose a stainless steel version of the plastic 2018+ CVO badge. My bike is twisted cherry, so I am having them powder coated black.

Thats the only thing I'm hesitant about. The thought of that pad on my paint freaks me out! But I know its used everywhere so I'll just take my time and watch the pressure. I'll also mask off the entire engine as I'm afraid of those bits getting everywhere and melting to stuff.

I have some photos of the original models with the medallion, so I should be able to get it in the right position pretty easily. I'm going to use the existing badge as a horizontal guide - some painters tape to mark positions.

Probably won't do until the weekend, but I'll post when finished. Thanks.

I put those on my 2018 Road Glide as soon as I got it. I didn't like the stock ones either

Yep, I think my initial placement was pretty close, maybe move it back a hair.

I snagged some photos of '87 EG's for comparison when I get to the job...
