Default question for those that sumped

Did you ever get it resolved and what do you feel corrected the problem?

interesting! if you fix sumping, can it happen again? If so, it is better to sell or exchange the bike. or is it throwing the dice? S&S, Feuling make no warranty. or is there anyone who repair and warranty

Resolution all 3 times was engine replacement. Last engine came with a replacement bike.

My first '19 Limited sumped at 7,400 miles. Repaired per Harley's SB M1450. Sumped again after 30 miles.

When it happened the second time I told Harley and my dealer I didn't want to see that POS again. Harley authorized a new bike within two weeks!

how many miles on the new one? There was that much engine engine damage that they had to replace the entire engine?

My Stage 4 RGS sumped just shy of 3000 miles. I took the opportunity to bring it up to a 124 and get rid of some of the Harley parts that I thought might be causing the issue. If I were to call one thing in particular, I would say the Feuling HP oil Pump/ and Cam plate did it for me. I am venting my oil tank as well, but over 3000 miles later the bike is riding great. Been throug all kinds of riding conditions since sumping.

who's pistons and cylinders did you use? Do you notice any additional heat from the engine?

First time: had put 5600 miles on it, sturgis and back from Michigan. During a trip in northern Michigan, on a highway in northern Miichigan in September, noticed a burning oil smell while doing 80, got off the exit, stopped at the light, was overcome with billows of smoke, bike clattering, etc. Limped to a gas station 1/4 mile form the exit, bike towed to a dealer. Engine replaced.

Second time, 600 miles after replacement in October, on a local highway near my home, same exact symptoms, limped to dealer, engine replaced under warranty.

Third time, 400 miles after replacement, similar scenario, limped back to dealer bike replaced April 2018

Stock 107, FLTRU (slip-ons only for all 3 occurrences)

Current bike has been to Sturgis and back, some other trips in ball busting hot weather, 8800 miles no issues so far.

Will likely trade in for a 2020 depending on what the lineup looks like. I want the new head unit and a 114.

I will say the MoCo treated me right, but I was also not a d1ck about it either, which I want to think helped.

I had goldwing F6b and loved it. A pick up truck cut me off on freeway on my way to sturgis in 2016. Bike was totaled. Back then F6b did not have reverse and only bike with aftermarket reverse was Harley. So bought SGS after that and put on a reverse. The newer goldwing without trunk has reverse and I’m tempted to get one but they are taller than before. I’m 5’5.
