Hopefully the HiFloFiltro version with the nut is better than some K&N versions.
K&N issued a recall notice on some nutted filter production as the spot welds failed, rupturing the main canister, resulting in oil spewing out.
This would be a significant safety risk when used on a motorcycle!
K&N claims that the spot welds have the potential to fail only if the nut is used to INSTALL the filter and that the nut is only provided to make removal convenient.
However, there are numerous failures reported by individuals who only "hand tightened" the filters.
If you already have a good oil filter wrench, I would not risk buying a filter with a spot-welded nut.
