Has anyone used this filter on the M-8?

I use a Flo Lifetime oil filter. It is kind of hard to tell what you are talking about, you don't really say what filter you are talking about.

JerseyJeff62.... Yes, no reason why not. They are a decent price and you can buy them in bulk!! Good luck, CSM-H

If you asking about this, I used these for years on my last 2 bikes.

Looks like a K&N filter - even has the same part number. 171B for black and 171C for chrome. Perhaps simply rebranded.

Yes, I have one on my 17 M8. Actually, done about 4 changes since new using these. I posted the wrong pic. I have the one with the nut on the end. Been using these for years. $10.00 per filter compared to HD at $24.00.

Hopefully the HiFloFiltro version with the nut is better than some K&N versions.
K&N issued a recall notice on some nutted filter production as the spot welds failed, rupturing the main canister, resulting in oil spewing out.
This would be a significant safety risk when used on a motorcycle!
K&N claims that the spot welds have the potential to fail only if the nut is used to INSTALL the filter and that the nut is only provided to make removal convenient.
However, there are numerous failures reported by individuals who only "hand tightened" the filters.

If you already have a good oil filter wrench, I would not risk buying a filter with a spot-welded nut.
