I purchased the first year of the M8 motor which was a SGS. Everybody was saying how bad the M8 was including a well known tuner telling me that he won’t tune a M8 until they get the problems fixed on them. Had me thinking it might be time to dump it and wait for awhile. Well I decided to keep it and ride it and I enjoyed it more than I have any HD I have owned. It run like a Swiss watch.
I’m sure there are some problems with some of them but for hell sakes the TC had its fair share also. Did we all of a sudden forget about them. I liked my 2017 SGS so well I just traded it in on a 2019.
i just get tired of all the people that have nothing good to say about the M8. I’m sure 98% of those people don’t own one or have ridden one and probably couldn’t buy one if they wanted to. If you don’t own one and all you want to do is bad mouth them then go somewhere else. Sorry for the rant but damn tired of the negativity on the M8.

here is some paperwork about transmission fluid transfer and sumping. So you think the MoCo is making up these solutions for imaginary problems?

I ask because the Street was built in India and Kansas City, and they closed the Kansas City plant, so are they importing Indian-made bikes to sell as Streets now? Guess I could check a VIN next time I'm at a dealer...
.

Where did you get your information, that Harley is selling made in India bikes in the US?

Here is pics of me of me buying both bikes, check the dates, it you dont believe me ring Bert's Barracuda in St Petes Florida and ask for Josie, she sold me both!

The 2019 was a black 2019 RGS, I paid them to swop my tins over from my 2018 RGS as I loved the colour so much!

As much as I want an M8, I am staying away for now. I hope they get it worked out. They have kinda boxed themselves in. Hard to announce you have resolved and issue that causes engines to blow when they so adamantly deny the issue exists when you ask a sales guy about it.

The stupid thing is, the most common issue is transmission oil transfer to primary on the Touring bikes that is easily fixed with the 'Fat Clutch Rod'!

Why Harley haven't implemented this fix is beyond me, no extra cost and problem goes away (well none reported as far as I am aware).

I also believe there is a third party fix for the sumping, which normally only occurs on bikes with a Stage 4. This fix involves splitting the cases and upgrading the oil scavenging pickup, more costing for an individual but for HD should be a straightforward design change.

These 2 issue are driving customers away, but once you address these issues (if necessary) you will be converted, the M8 is a great motor that delivers strong smooth power out the box and responds very well to tuning. Of course to get the best you have to forgo your warranty and install third party performance products.

The Streets are built on the same line as the Sportster. When the Kansas City plant shuts down at the end of May 2019 the Sportster and Street line will move to the York plant.
I work at the plant here in Kansas City.
