Hi people, I haven't posted here in a while. Addressing the 837B cam here is a quick story.
I built my motor getting 150hp 162tq. I did an SE 131 kit , Woods 837B cam, 64mm intake, Non-HD tune, Fullsac header, KW slip ons, Man O War comp, Trask basket etc.

I did not do the oil pump since the 2021 HD pump supposedly cured the sumping issue. Last season the water pump went and caused the bike to overheat badly.
I had also been having sumping symptoms. Dynoed the bike again and hp had dropped to 140hp.Talked to the HD tech and said I wanted to get the lost horsepower back.
So in Febraury 2023 I brought the bike in for an SE oil pump, new cam, intake, and jackpot xxx header. Crank run out .0010! 7k miles on the bike and I never beat it.

$$$ later S&S crank, Carillo pistons, ported and polished HD 131 kit heads and valve job, Jackpot xxx header, custom cam from HD tech, Dyno jet tune, bigger intake, kitchen sick.
I also swapped out the Man O War comp with a Heavy-duty ramp. Results 166hp 155tq.

Man, I miss my 837B cam. Bike has plenty of power but not that abrupt burst of speed the 837B had. I will say feathering the clutch is much easier but that could be from going back to the HD ramp.
The Woods cam had crazy vibration but once you got used to it was fine. It also sounded like Congo drums and I loved it.
I hate the new power band. 837B fan here and sadly I think I am swapping back $$$. Might try altering the tune for the response I am looking for?

What is current cam? Dyno sheet says 107, S&S 475, PHD 240 (???). Is that a Comp Cam? I have considered the 837 cam in past, but did not want to swap springs at the time. How did 837 cam perform in upper rpm’s?

Hi yeah, yes I noticed the labeling. I'll ask but I assume lazy and not entering specs every time.
The 837B worked fine with my stock valve springs though I was using SE 131 kit heads.
Here is the dyno from that build. I hate to say it but the 150hp bike felt better and faster than the 166hp bike.

The new horsepower is in the upper zone. not as torquey. If I cannot get it tuned to respond the way I want it. I am going back to the 837B cam.
This was the builder's combo, cam, exhaust, intake, pipe, tune and he said I would achieve 160hp which I did.
Aside from the jackpot xxx header and dyno-jet tune I did not pay attention to the rest.

I will attach the old dyno with the 837B. Everyone who has used it seemed to like it.
And trust me this new cam which I will post specs on has crazy vibration once you hit 4000 rpm and above.
I will happily say seems like my sumping and overheating issues are gone (though that is another thread).

So far I've put just over 900 miles on my bike with the Wood 22XD, making 117hp/128ft lbs, and I'm having the time of my life every time I twist the throttle.

I look at some of these builds and I can't imagine how much fun you guys with 150hp must be having!

Fuel Moto built my 2021 Low Rider S built to a 128". The LRS now has a serious attitude and is just plain ol' angry! The front end gets very light, very fast!

It was an extensive build due to unique circumstance, but with Fuel Moto's recommendations we ended up with the following components:
  • Fuel Moto 128"
  • Carillo 11:1 Pistons
  • Fuel Moto Level B heads
  • Darkhorse crank w/ H-beam rods
  • SE 64mm Throttle Body w/Ward Ported Manifold
  • 6.2 GPM Fuel Moto Injectors
  • Wood WM8-9FX camshaft
  • S&S Cam Chest Upgrade (cam support plate & oil pump)
  • S&S Premium Lifters
  • S&S Stinger Intake w/+1" taller filter element
  • CycleRama Compensator Ramp
  • Rekluse Billet Clutch Basket
  • Rekluse TorqDrive clutch pack
  • Jackpot Riot 2-1
  • Tuned with PV

Default Don’t crucify me

I’m relatively new to the forums, and definitely new to upgraded motors, dyno readings, and the lot; however, I am looking for the “gear heads” and those who have been there, done that for suggestions.
2020 SG special, 117-131 stage 4 build with a Woods 77X cam, and Rush Racing 2-2 with the Big Louie tails, otherwise the guts are just what comes in the 131 SE kit. Just dynoed and tuned today and you’ll see the numbers. I am tickled with the 160 top speed vs the stock 110 cutoff. Fairly happy with the torque and hp but I figure someone can point me towards bigger numbers and someone can tell me the best way to go with exhaust to get the most from my machine.

Others will be able to give you more technical advice, but I'd be willing to bet that exhaust is really affecting your numbers. That torque dip looks like the common shorty exhaust issue that plagues many of my M8 Softail brethren.

What tuner do you have? I feel like a 131 with a Wood cam should be making significantly more power and torque. And FYI, the only way an HD cruiser is hitting 160 is if you drop it off a cliff

Who tuned it? Looks like a lousy tune, I don't remember seeing that bad of a tq dip no matter what exhaust was used, as stated above those numbers are low, max power at 4900 rpms, something is bad wrong on that tune!

Lots to fix on that tune...
Here is a before and after correcting the timing tables. Still need to fix the speed limiters, but owner had a run to attend.
