M8 Dyno Numbers
#531
I've given them a call and asked for the file to see if anyone here can understand what's holding it back. Everything else is running fine they say, some timings need to be updated and the map needs to be built but they cannot progress until the throttle position issue is resolved.

Thought I'd start a thread so we can see M8 numbers in 1 spot. I searched, didn't see a dedicated thread for this.

Problem solved. Replaced the ECM for a new one. Dynojet tried everything they could but couldn't find a way to change the restriction on the throttle blade, they'd never seen anything like it before and neither had their US HQ. We can only assume it was something to do with the previous owner and something has gone wrong at some point, not even HD knew what it was.
Got lucky by being able to get a new ECM within a week, current waiting times for other softails are nearly 6 months!
HD linked the new ECM to the bike, did their programming in around 30 mins. Even at the stock 107 map its a totally different bike.
Back at Dynojet this week for the tune, will post the results ASAP.

Thursday it took my to B&A Machine Performance, to have it tuned properly. The dealer had put a PV map in the bike, but was never tuned properly. The bike ran good, no popping, pinging or backfiring. I just wanted it dialed in. At B&A, they use tecno research direct link for tuners. Tim is owner and the dyno guy, very knowledgeable. He installed the new tuner and played with the timimg. I gain 6ft pounds and the HP stayed about the same, but is noticeably more responsive. Tim uses a super flo dyno, not the dyna jet. He told me the super flo dyno will put out numbers 10 to 11 % lower than the dyna jet.
S&S 475, SE HV breather, 2 into 1 Rinehartt and know a techno reach direct link tune.

What's the reason for changing to a TTS? It does the exact same thing as the DynoJet, it won't gain you any performance. You're better off getting it tuned on a dynamometer than getting a new tuner.
