Default Clutch Lever Engagement

very recently picked up my 2018 Street Glide. Haven’t been able to really put any miles yet due to weather, already snowed a few times. But one thing I have noticed is the clutch lever effort and engagement point. The clutch doesn’t engage until the very end of the lever travel, and the lever effort seems a bit high (but I just might not be used to it yet). Is there anyway to adjust the engagement point? I know the M8’s use a hydraulic clutch so adjustment might not be possible, but are there any adjustable levers available?

i rode my friends 103” Fat Boy and the clutch felt very light and engaged almost immediately when you started to release the lever. I don’t want that, but there’s got to be a happy medium.

Unfortunately there is no adjustment for the factory hydraulic clutch. The Aim Slave cylinder seems interesting from the reports I have read. It reduces Lever effort and brings the engagement point closer to the grip. It will be my next mod on my bike.

two alternatives are provided by Oberon (Hogleverage.com) and Softbrake. Oberon provides an adjustable click type adjustment to reduce the throw of the lever. Softbrake heats and reshapes the stock lever to bring the lever closer to the grip.

Both are effective at what they do. The Oberon is more effective in that it allows you to adjust the lever to a small throw while still being allowed to depress the clutch switch so the bike will start with the clutch lever pulled all the way back in most instances. But the shape of the lever itself does not feel like the factory lever and is somewhat awkward. The Softbrake is the factory lever heated and bent in a jig. It feels more comfortable and natural but in my experience does not allow for starting of the bike in anything but the neutral position.

I prefer the Oberon but it is a preference and opinion, nothing more.

PSR makes an adjustable lever that allows starting in gear at adjustment settings that the Oberon does not.

I love the softbrake levers I have on mine. They are angled closer to the grips and the clutch release is then closer in versus the stock levers. World of difference. I didnt like the looks of the oberons, but I am interested in that aim clutch slave though.

I think I'm gonna agree, I looked at the AIM Light Force and guess I understand the principle, but with the Softbrake and Oberon, they are changing the geometry of the lever which works better for me. I don't have any problem with the friction zone or clutch engagement with either of those products. For me it's the reach problem with the OEM lever. With the Oberon and Softbrake (maybe the PSR as well), it's like owning a different motorcycle.
