Default Add heated grips 2018 M8 RGU

I want to add stock Harley heated grips this winter to my 2018 RGU. I have been told by some that the bike is prewired already. Is this true and will I need any additional wiring if I use stock heated had grips off a 2018. Thanks Bob

If you go to the Harley website and click on the heated grips will you find installations instructions that will answer your questions.

Yes. It's prewired. Very simple to do. Maybe an hour to do the first time?

I tried to look at Harley instructions but they are confusing. Thanks for info they are plug and play. Are all the connections under the gauges? Thanks Bob

Run a small bead of silicone sealant around the grip opening and the handle bar or you might get water in the grips, which will short them out. Don't ask me how I learned this!!!!

For whatever reason the standard black rubber heated grips kit I got did not have a power harness long enough to reach way inside the fairing on my 2017 RGU.
It's a simple purple and black wire harness that apparently is not included in the standard kit.
I looked all over the instrument panel and handle bar mount area for a closer connection but, there wasn't one. If I remember correctly the instructions state for RGUs this harness is needed. It's like an extension.
Instead of buying one and waiting for it to arrive, I just made a harness and tapped into the cigarette lighter power.

Hoping for you this was just a fluke on my part and perhaps I bought the wrong kit or whatever.

I did the heated grips on my 2017 SGS. The only wire I had to run was on the left handlebar. The throttle side is pre-wired and only requires you to plug in the grip. then connect the the connectors in the fairing and your done.
