I come from a sport bike background so i run the **** out of it. My mileage is at the most 25 miles per gallon, i can go max 130 miles on a 5 gallon tank before i am on fumes. I do ride all in town though, stop and go stop and go and ride it like i stole it. I havent been in 5th or 6th gear for months....

Its actually pretty easy to get 50mpg out of a stock bike. Its just that most guys are never going to be able to ride that economically for that long Just get on a highway, set the cruise to 60mph and ride for a couple hrs. Guaranteed to get 50 mpg out of almost any Harley. Push the speed higher and you'll rarely see 50mpg. Change speeds alot and you also won't see 50mpg.

Through the hills of Eastern KY on the interstate, I got 46.1 mpg on a stock bike in the rain.

Never cared much about fuel mileage on my Harleys and only moniter it for sake of general curiousity. Couple things I find interesting: my 17RGU when stock consistantly got 2-3 mpg better than my 18 FLHTK - larger big recurve windshields knock mgs down considerably, my stock 18 limited with a 10" recurve windshield consistantly gets 34-37. I've been known to ride em hard

I've done a lot of testing and validation over 2 years and 28,000 miles and determined my bike can go longer on a tank of gas than I can without stopping for some

The RG fairing is way more aerodynamic than that barn door they call a batwing, I had a 2000 EG that I converted to a RG & the mileage improved by at least 2 mpg, better the faster you were going, absolutely no other changes

I did a 4 k trip with my 17 RGS stock 50 to 54 mpg at 65 mph and 70 to 80 I would get 42 to 46 mpg.
