Default O2 bungs - 12mm to 18mm adspters

Anyone installed the adapters for mounting 18mm O2 sensors, in place of the stock 12mm sensors? Wondering if there's enough room to get the sensor and connector in there on the Touring bikes.

I’ve never seen these adapters? I believe the adapters go from 18 down to 12 only. If you need 18 but have 12 then you need to have the 18mm bungs welded on.

As stated I do not believe they make those adapters. Bigger to smaller yes. Also the 18mm sensors are required to be a lot closer to the head, so even if the did make an adapter they wouldn’t work so good downstream in the exhaust.

I have not seen or heard of an adapter that goes from 12 mm to 18 mm. If they did exist they wouldn't work very well because you want the tip of the O2 sensor in the exhaust stream. Even the 18 mm to 12 mm adapters are not extremely efficient because they don't get the tip well into the exhaust stream. When Steve Cole and I did cam testing he had me weld 18 mm bungs in the stock pipes so he could use the wide band 18 mm O2 sensors for tuning. These have to be located in the correct place on the stock header or you will have problems installing and removing the O2 sensors. I think I used the Drag Specialties #: 1861-0560 bungs. They are the 90 degree angle bungs, not 45 degree. 45 degree again will not allow the O2 sensor to get into the exhaust stream. If your just doing this for tuning, I would find a tuner that has Herko Blocks. I think they work pretty well, their simple to install, and when they are finished they can cap them without a problem.

If you are doing this to install the ThunderMax tuner you really need to have the bungs welded in. I would recommend using the TTS tuner instead, but if you are already set on the ThunderMax I am sure I won't change your mind. I just think going from the Delphi ECM to an Alpha N ECM is a step backwards.

Road star, if you’re talking about your Billet Cat/Thundermax combo. The Billet cat comes with the 18 to 12 mm adapters. You will have everything you need when you get the pipes and tuner.
