1000 mile service

It's all about the $$$$$$$$$. However, although I am extremely skeptical of the work performed, supposedly the amount of work and check of the first service is quite extensive. I am super paranoid and feel as if they just change the oil and call it a day, but that's just me. I don't like people working on my motorcycle. I'd rather complete the service myself but might just have to suck it up for the first service because of warranty purposes.

it is necessary to have it gone through early, some flaws will manifest themselves early rather than later and can be covered under warranty, might be a safety issue they catch, etc, a necessary evil..but all of us who have purchased new Harleys agree on one thing..it's ridiculously high for what is actually done or needs to be done that early, being the same price as the 10,20,30K, etc services which clean AF, install new spark plugs, hydraulic fluid moisture check and other stuff..our dealership has always given 25% off the 1K when buying a new bike..so really the most important part of it is getting the break in oils out of it

it was an abrasive first post, and can only assume it's his first new Harley purchase and experience with them otherwise then it's just plain old whining with no value adding here..one of the things us experienced customers have learned is the 1K is one of the easiest things to get thrown in on a new purchase..just keep that card up your sleeve and play it at the end of the deal..even though the service departs are run as their own separate business in a way..they come to expect the sales team to hit them with that occassionaly and they all know that's a quick and easy peasy service that doesn't really impact business profits much at all
