Ear plugs help. They cut the whiny sewing machine sounds and let the deeper exhaust notes through. Try it.

I love my '18 Breakout. Quiet enough at idle not to **** off my neighbours, but sounds good when i get the engine spinning, and i'm still running stock pipes. It may be a cruiser with no wind protection, but i regularly run mine at 80-90mph. No plans for any power train mods until my warranty is up, plenty of grunt stock. By that point there should be more exhaust options available. M8's are picky about pipes, some aftermarket options reduce power rather than add it.

My M8 sounded better than my 2016 SGS which was changed later , but a set of Reindhart improved the sound of my 2017 M8

That would be around 1978, which means Shovelhead.

You need to go say ten rosaries and wash your mouth out with soap!

I've got less than a hundred miles on my M8 and that ticking/sewing machine sound drives me crazy. I hope it goes away as the engine breaks in.

Just have to get used to the new sounds. The M8 makes different sounds but is not louder than the TC.

The stock pipes on the M8 Touring do open up and get both louder and deeper.
Fairly significant in my case and to my ears.

Agree with the opinions posted above...I heard some ticking noises on my '17 RK but the more miles I put on the bike, the better the overall sound and I don't hear the ticking noises much at all. Was thinking about an exhaust upgrade but now since she's broke in - don't see the need....well...yet! Maybe more of a nice to have at this point.
