Default 97 fatboy

Rode a 97 Fatboy today with an S&S 107 engine and was amazed at the amount of vibration. My point of reference is my 07 Nightrain I had years ago. I don't recall it shaking anywhere near as much. Just riding along at 40 mph it felt like my feet were going to buzz off the floorboards. My Nightrain I don't recall shaking so much when cruising along but it did have a high frequency vibration that I couldn't feel but would put my hands to sleep. Is this normal for the older bikes to shake at all speeds?
