When I was on my road trip in the southwest, a new M8 owner had his clutch fail when he tried to start it up in the morning on his way to Las Vegas. Saw him a few hours later in Grand Canyon HD and he said his clutch cylinder had to be replaced. He missed two days from his road trip.

Feels like this is a reoccurring failure to the hydraulic clutches, like the circulating coolant pumps on the twin cool motors.

It's possible. Softails are cable operated.

I had this with my 2018 RGS. My bike had just had its 1000 miles service and I had rode it about 150 miles the day before, parked my bike in my garage, the next morning rolled it out, started it put it in gear and it started pulling straight away and then clutch had no tension and bike just stalled when put in gear.

Contacted dealer (this was a Sunday morning) they come straight over and picked it up, called later and said they needed to order parts from HD tomorrow and should be ready Wednesday. I called Tuesday afternoon and they said one of the parts was on back order, won't be in for a month! I went mad said how can a brand new model have key parts on back order so quickly, I had had the bike for less than a month and paid cash for it( $31K OTD less trade in)! I said they can keep the bike and will be down tomorrow for a check!

I called the shop manager and told him what had happened, he said to give him 30 minutes as he was out of the shop, true to his word he called me straight back and said they was gonna rob the required parts from a brand new bike and I will have my bike back the next day as promised, I did, for once the dealership stepped up

Gets me thinking about buying an Indian... then again, who knows what kind of problems they have.
