Default S&S Oil Pump and Cam Plate Two Weeks Out

I contacted S&S this morning and inquired about the oil pump and cam plate for the M8. This is the response I received in reply:

"We they are going to be out the first of July. Biker's Choice and Drag should have information on there website.

We will be putting an email blast out soon.

Pre-released orders are being taken at this time."

Hopefully this will alleviate the sumping problem that some are experiencing.

Thank you for your order goblue90. We recieved our first shipment of S&S M8 cam plates/oil pumps yesterday morning and were sold out of them within a few hours. We will have another shipment sometime next week and we will fill backorders in the order they are recieved. For those interested we are installing the S&S plate/pump in a 2017 Road Glide today and we'll be doing an write up on the install early next week. Stay tuned!

I hope they release it when they say. I’m anxiously waiting it. The fueling pump is on backorder

What's the cost of this kit? I can't find it listed anywhere.

I think retail is around $699, probably less from a discount Drag Specialties dealer.

Hopefully the "engineer" who put this kit together is not the same person who wrote you this reply.

HA!

Seriously, that is pretty damn sad.

I think with the S&S pump/plate along with a new set of adjustable rockers and new rocker pivots my M8's engine will quiet down a bunch and be a long term keeper. Hopefully the aftermarket will make the rockers and I wont have to buy them from HD. And with the take off parts I bought from a fellow member when he went stage IV I will have long term viable parts for the King.

Some of the smartest people I know have a problem with grammar, and I’m not talking about their mother’ mother. I could have cleaned it up but I thought it more important to relay the information just the way I received it.

Is this something you should do proactively, or after an issue?

Thanks.

Dan, that's sort of the million dollar question.

By the looks of your current mods, if I was you, I would get the S&S pump and plate. "Technically" you have voided your warranty, so you might as well do what you can to bullet proof what you have.

However, for those who are playing the "wait and see" game and have had no issues so far, might want to hold off until they do any further performance upgrades.

For me, since I DO plan on doing a 124" build on my CVO, I will get the S&S pump and plate and put it on the shelf until I am ready.
