S&S Oil Pump and Cam Plate Two Weeks Out

AMEN
I say that with experience, my 2017 CVO is getting a new engine put in this week because of the stock pump. Having an issue is not the worst thing about this. It's how Harley covers things up and it takes them over a year and multiple design changes to get it right. And we still do not know if the latest stock pump will hold up over time. I should be getting my bike back this weekend with the new engine and it sucks I have to go spend another $600 for assurance that I wont blow the engine again.

Yes you have a point, but do I want to risk being stuck hundreds of miles away from my home again. It cost me $550 for a Uhaul when my engine blew a couple weeks ago in Tennessee and I live in Michigan. Harley will not pay me back for the Uhaul.

That sucks. Harley wouldn't pick the bike up?

No towing is not covered under your warranty.
Being a HOG member I could have had it towed to the nearest Harley Dealer. BUT Why would I do that? I knew by the sound of it that the engine was shot. I didn't want a dealer in Tennessee to do the work for 2 reasons. I didn't want to pay to come back to get the bike and if there was issues with the work done I would want to take it back to the dealer that did the work. Plus I would have had to rent something to bet me and my girlfriend home anyway. so we drove a uhaul home.

I think this could be an excellent solution to any M8 bike owner that has already voided their drivetrain warranty for other reasons. But I think it would be a mistake to install this camplate and pump if your warranty is still intact. If the engine fails or sumps after installing this kit and you are still under the factory warranty, you will most definitely void your drivetrain warranty at that point if you are making a claim under the factory warranty. I'm sure S&S will stand behind their product but its highly doubtful they will replace your engine if it fails after installing their kit.

I'm happy with the price. My first time ordering from them. I initially ordered the pump/plate straight from S&S, total with tax and shipping came to $776. Luckily, I ordered the wrong part #, ordered for water cooled. Cancelled that order and placed order with DCP.
