Default Which way would you go?

I’m already running with a stage 1 consisting of Rinehart slip ons, FP3 and high flow air filter and am deciding to go with a cam upgrade or headers for the next step on my RKS.

What do you think the are the benefits of either way? Would I gain about the same or better if most of my riding is up to about 4,000rpm.

There is a deal on with HD dealers for cam upgrades and fitting or for about the same money I could get a Fullsac header sent from the states to Australia.

Cheers mates.

I'd go with the Cams, but NOT the hd brands........S&S or andrews.

Cam upgrade for sure. If you go HD, get the torque cam. I've went with the Wood 22x cam myself. Glad i did.

see you are in Aus...you could PM Oz Dan on this board from Down Under..he put together and posted impressive results on his Stage 2 he's extremely pleased with..he might be able to help guide you on getting stuff down there, etc...just a thought

More bang for the buck with cam. Since you have an FP3, I assume you no longer have warranty, so go with an aftermarket cam. They perform better than an SE cam. There are 2 or 3 really good cam test threads on here.

No doubt cam and then headers for full benefit. Of course one is quite a bit more expensive than the other. Being in OZ heat may be an issue and the cables headpipe may be more benefit for you .

I agree, non-HD cam first. But if there is any way you can swing it, do both - you will be all smiles, I promise!

Cam. But I’m biased because I don’t like loud exhaust.

Thanks for the feedback, have gone with the S&S 465 set up keeping the stock header. I’m hoping this will keep the back pressure needed to hold the bottom end torque up and hold on further up the range.

I chose this this Cam even though there hasn’t been a whole lot of info on it for the S&S name, suitability to what I was after, my current set up and the price from Fuelmoto was pretty good compared to other Cam kits when I weighed up the exchange rate and postage.

Looking forward to fitting up in the next few weeks when it arrives and reporting back.
