Cost options are determined by your length of extended warranty, company selling the warranty and or your dealer. Did you purchase this bike new or used? How many miles do you have on it? If new the dealer should have offered it to you along with a tire/wheel package and paint protection and other goodies to make $ from. I have always turned down the extended warranty offer and the dealer would offer a reduced price to which I agreed. All warranties are not equal, the one you get from Harley is actually a third party and not from harley at all..............there is also a deductible for each visit after the factory warranty expires.

Good Luck

Harley themselves doesn't offer an extended warranty; what they offer is coverage from a third party company. DiscountESP.com is another third-party company that provides extended warranties, and they're a forum sponsor here, and their prices were quite reasonable, so you might want to check them out.

Does anyone know if the extended warranty coverage is as strict as the Manufacturer warranty regarding non HD accessories installed? From what I have read the MOCO is invalidating warranties based on non EPA aftermarket equipment and tuners, etc. Does the addition of any of the aftermarket also void the third party ESP? If so, I guess I should cancel my ESP and get my money back.
Thanks!

not sure, never use them but I'm sure they treat the claims as it's their job to find anything that will allow them to deny coverage..to me, the only reason I would consider an ESP is to cover a catastrophic failure, not the $200-$500 type of stuff that I could afford out of pocket, figure you have $2000 right from the start for paying those before an ESP would begin to start paying any benefits. my full coverage insurance has some overlap for stuff like towing and accommodations..'Vegas odds' would be heavily in favor of the companies selling these to be the ones benefiting $$ wise the most. but some folks feel the piece of mind is worth the $ and occassionaly someone blows a motor and gets it replaced then they are feeling pretty darn good about it

Consider how much you ride. I generally purchase an ESP because some years I ride 15-20,000 miles. Sometimes I’ve come out ahead, and sometimes I’ve sold the bike before any major issues surfaced. The cost varies with the Harley branded ESP. For example, I shopped my regular dealer and his price was $600 more, and $400 over the Harley suggested retail price, when compared a smaller dealer 60 miles away. Ask the dealer to give you the Harley suggested retail price sheet; they all have it. If they won’t then they’re charging over retail.

Although I have no personal experience, I've heard good things about discountesp.com sold by Boardtracker HD. They’re a stand up dealer. That at least provides a different option to consider.

I guess the fact the warranty is transferrable and prorated / refundable is nice tho, easier to sell your bike used to a private party or get some $ back if you trade it in..pros and cons like most things

After the manufacturer warranty is up there is a 50 dollar deductible. Only your engine would be invalid if you decided to modify it. If something like a defective brake or any other non engine related item your warranty would be good.

Keep in mind any ESP inlaces the 2 years you have if you bought a new bike or used with factory warranty left. You do not get an additional x amount of years AFTER the factory is up. If you buy a 3 year ESP right when you buy the bike, you are getting one year of extended warranty.
