Default Idle issue

Hello, I’m curios if anyone else has had this issue. I recently put cams, exhaust and intake on my 18 RGS. I used a power vision tune from Fuel Moto. The bike ran good but I would get some speratic idle issues. Getting off the throttle after some riding the idle would stay above 1200 rpm for about 10 seconds then fall back down to set idle. It would also surge up above 1000 rpm if cruising through a parking lot.

I had the bike dynoed yesterday hoping to get rid of that issue. The bike runs great but the idle issue is still there. I would appreciate any help and info. Thanks

Mine has done this since new, I just dont pay much attention to it anymore, 13k miles and hasn't caused any issue so I guess it's all good.

Thanks that’s good to hear but frustrating. I hate being at a red light and the idle be at 1200.

Check for intake seal leaks at the heads. There are a few reports of intake seals leaking and/or warped manifolds (plastic).

Usually that's a sign of being lean but it could be ECu malfunction ,mine doesn't do it.

I soon as I added 2-1 exhaust a cam and tune to match my idle has sucked when bike is cold. When I start it for the first time of the day it almost dies then catches itself then almost dies. Does that 3 or 4 times then smooths out. I’m assuming a tuning issue. Alls I know below 2800 rpm the bike is a pig. Can you tell I’m getting a little frustrated. With a little help and patience we will get it figured out. I’m glad the weather is shitty.

As VDeuce mentioned, checked for leaks, I also have a stage II and noticed the SE Heavy Breather was not sitting flush at the elbow when looking at it from underside, it had about an 1/8" gap. If I was standing looking at the bike from the right side, it looked correct, but it wasn't. Soapy water is your friend when trying to find air leaks.

Did about three auto tune sessions with the PV and runs a lot smoother also, no bogging in the lower RPM's.

Good luck!

was there a big big difference between dyno and Fuel Moto map? I’ve noticed the last couple maps I got from Jamie don’t have the idle setting available in map. Not sure why.
