Actually while simple that is a good question. I have checked my oil level on jiffy and then while it’s in the stand straight up. Damn if I can see any difference.

My understanding is on the new M8, the recommended way to check primary level3 is upright and level per service manual since the primary has been change to a narrower profile and thus reduced fluid space, it now shows the top fluid level close to the top lip. If you place the bike on jiffy stand and open the primary inspection cover, I bet some of the primary fluid will spill out.

My 2014 Twin Cam with wider primary, I am able to open the cover and able to not spill…YMMV…

Straight up as per Manuel for thr primary.

It does spill out while checking on the jiffy stand.
Been there with my M8
