Default Screamin' Eagle Smart Tune Pro Auto Tuning Module

Like to get some input on the SE Smart Tune Pro Auto Tuning Module with the wideband O2 sensors. I've completed a Stage II update on my M8 Ultra and I'm considering adding the Smart Tune module. Any Pro's or Con's with this addition.

I contemplated this when it was announced, along with the SE High Flow exhaust which is tapped for the WB 02's...Steve Cole responded with detailed comprehensive reasons why one would be better off getting a proper tune than spending all that money. I took his advice and glad I did, bike runs fantastic and probably saved $1500- $2000 in doing so. maybe he'll respond here but I can probably find his original response

I have the pro tune with the Smart tune and love it. unless you are doing some drag racing or are in to finite tuning it is a great way to go. The cost is minimal (around $330 at boardtracker). I imagine it's not the best if you want every ounce of power, but it does keep the warranty intact and works fine for "most" uses.

Depends on why you want it. From what I read about it, if you want to go cross-country and change elevations a lot, then it might make sense. If you're looking at it as a way to get a hopped-up dyno tune, probably not.

I think there's some confusion out there about what this product is. It doesn't appear to be just a regular wideband O2 sensor add-on for getting a more accurate dyno tune. Instead, its purpose is in its name: it's an "automatic tuning module." As they say in the parts catalog, it's designed so you can "ride from the flatlands of South Dakota to the mountains of Colorado without a compromise in performance." It claims to sense the current conditions, do automatic analysis, and updates the ECM on the fly.

The module itself is $400, but I don't know what installation costs would be, seems like they'd probably be pretty high.

Great info, I live in a hilly area, goes from sea level to 4000 ft in a matter of 15 miles. I was hoping for a bit more on the performance side. It sounds like I may have to go another route...

and if you don't want to buy the SE exhaust already tapped they have this nice little tool to do it on your OEM exhaust! LOL

something I noticed was on my Rushmore SE Stage 1 Road king 103 going over Rattlesnake Pass at 4000 ft in triple digit temps it ran like a dog, heat and elevation combo robbed power big time..made a similar trip this July on my dyno tuned SE Stage 1 M8 with no such ill effects

I have it and it works good. I did notice a difference in throttle response. As for the o2 sensor, I just pulled the exhaust and had the dealer drill and tap it. Wasn't worth buying the needed tools to do that part myself. As for the install, it was very simple.

Worth it to me. Keeps the tune fresh and warranty intact

Am I missing something? FI on the harley doesn’t adjust for elevation an temp? Like every other FI system on the planet does?

Bingo...

Also... If some took a deeper look into this "Auto Tuning" aspect, they might be surprised.
