Default Winter Bar Upgrade

Ordered some 10" W1 Reapers for the 2017 SGS yesterday. Trying to get things lined up before the weather breaks here in Mi. Been reading a lot on here about bars, i am 6'4" and the stock bars are just to low, hit my legs at full wheel lock. Really looking forward to this upgrade. Going to be hanging the mirrors upside down on the bars too.

I would think that at 6-4 putting mirrors upside down under the bars would not work with 10" bars.

Im shorter than you (better angle) and couldnt make it work with 14's

Plus as tall as you are, I'd think 10" is way too short. I'm 5-9 and 14s were great. If you're going to do it, do it.

I'm 6'2 and the KST guys that installed mine said for my height they would not go below 12's so that's what I did and I love them! I put arlen ness mini oval mirrors on and tried the flipped way but the look just didn't do it for me. Not crazy about them up top either but I like them better than flipped. If I had of known the bars would make such an improvement, I would have installed them on day one! Good luck with your setup!

ya I thought about it, but I don't care for the bars over the top of the fairing. If I was rolling a road glide I think I wouldn't mind going with a taller setup.

if I don't like them I will flip the to the top. Just don't want mouse ears if possible.

yeah I wanted to avoid that also, the mini ovals are very small but surprisingly effective.

well like I said, I don't like the look of the bars flying over the top of the batwing. Got nothing to do with timid man, everyone likes what they like.

Im 5 10 and just installed a set of 12 kst bars on my 17 sgs a while back. I wouldnt want to go any taller but the 12s are perfect for me i think. 10s would have worked for me as well but im alot shorter the 6 4. If you havent already ordered a set i would go with atleast 12s if not 14s for you. Good thing about 10 and 12 inch apes from kst anyway you can keep the stock cables. They say yaffee 12s and above you habe to replace the stock cables cause they run bigger then what they advertise.
Also wirh the 12 im using my stock mirrors. May eventually convert to mirrors mounted on the bars but for now im good. I can see atleast 50 percent of my mirrors in stock location in normal riding position. If i raise my elbows just a hair i can see the whole mirrors.
