kind of funny timing..I've never checked or given a rat's @$$ about fuel economy in anything my entire life, and still don't..but just yesterday getting back from a 200 mile ride I thought I'd see what the Info screen had to say about it..now I've had my 2020 for 8 months and over 7000 miles and used the GPS once when I first got it and the Trip Summary displayed that. No current info, didn't have a clue, figured it would reset every time like my Toyota does.. so that was my first and last attempt to see MPG...last three bikes were Heritage and Road Kings for 8 years and 80,000 miles cuz I stopped using even the stereo on my 2009 Electra Glide.

In my club, the first guy that has to **** or stop for gas is buying the next round. That assures everyone that the tank is full and you took a **** before we left. This has the side effect of everyone talking about gas mileage, it has nothing to do if we can afford it.

Fuel Mileage...

Well...if you have a PowerVision, a canned map and calculated 30 MPG on the last tank...(OMG!! HOW DARE YOU WONDER ABOUT FUEL MILAGE!!!) It just might mean you need a tune before you wash out your rings...

On the other hand, you just spent $500 for a custom wazoo tune on your highly loved and cherished, not to mention expensive and finely polished Harley Davidson..oh ya, with cams, heads, exhaust, mufflers etc to the tune of several thousand more dollars...you just MIGHT want to know the A/F, lambda, timing and other trivial things are spot on and you are getting great range too boot.

Lemme see, how about this one...you live in the west, especially Nevada and parts of Utah where gas can be rather sparse...Hmmm, how far can I go on a tank...nah...I'll just fill e'r up at the next station...they're on every corner...RIGHT?

Or how about this, you ride your bike and I'll ride mine. BTW, I've seen almost every one of these signs.

Plongson...On some bikes if you see one of those signs you're already F'd...on bikes with bigger tanks, better be close to full...

2019 RGU with stage 2 and I love it. The tuning made a huge difference. Throttle response is much better. I expected a drop in fuel mileage but when I just cruise and don't let the kid in me out I can't tell a difference. Performance is a big jump forward but fuel mileage doesnt really suffer under 3k rpm.

Haven't read through every post on this thread, but im just wondering who amongst the posters have done their fuel mileage calculations AFTER being sure their speedo calibration was spot on? I know my speedo on my current Softail, right off the dealer floor, was reading a solid 3 miles per hour slow compared to a GPS speed reading.

Nor sure that matters. If you're keeping track of fuel mileage and your speedo isnt calibrated, as long as the wrong calibration stays consistent, the your fuel mileage would be as well, right?

Its like my bathroom scale is a few pounds off from what my Dr's scale tells me when I get a check up. I've been tracking my weight loss and fitness for over 2 years. When I see I lose weight...say 4 pounds.... on my bathroom scale I see now I weigh 180, but the Dr's scale might say I weight 183. I still lost that 4 pounds.

Well if your comparing your pre stage 2 fuel mileage, to your post stage 2 fuel mileage, then you are correct. But if your comparing your mileage either pre or post stage 2 , to someone else's fuel mileage, then the speedo calibration would come into play. I do see what your getting at though. Or lets say that perhaps you took your bone stock M8 and installed a cam. Now with a cam we all know that a recalibration of ECM is required. This recalibration will require some brand of tuner. Most tuners if not all allow for a speedo recalibration. If you were to recalibrate your speedo then your old fuel mileage calculations would be null and void compared to your new mileage calculations.

While your right the speedometer calibration being different between bikes makes it hard to be a 100% accurate most speedometers are only of by 2 or 3 % so not a huge discrepancy.
