Default Rocker Box Gasket Leak??

Dealer caught a rocker box gasket leak at 1K maintenance service. At 3,300 miles on 2017 CVO SG no other issues.

Has anyone had more than one gasket leak? Just curious if this will be a recurring issue

Thanks

Mine too disappointingly....

Being replaced next week so hoping it'll solve the problem once and for all.

Pretty poor for a brand new bike!

mine leaked also, they blamed it on powder coating.

but another dealer fixed it under warranty. They said it was common and I think their might be a new updated part number for the upper cover gasket.

300 miles on my new Limited and I noticed an oil leak. Front rocker box gasket was changed; with the updated gasket. 4 days after the repair, the same oil leak again. HD elected to replace the front rocker box. I've ridden 3200 miles since and the engine is still dry. So far, so good ?? !!

Mine leaked also. Took it to the dealer and was told that they could not find a leak. Took it in for 1K check and didn't clean the bike, so there was evidence of the leak at the front and rear of the rocker boxes. They tighten everything up and we will see...

My front rocker box was leaking at 5000 miles. Dealer replaced gaskets; now leaking again at 7300 miles.

This happened at my 15K and 20K service and dealer said the same thing both times...

Rocker Box is leaking pretty good but we can fix it at now charge under warranty.

I have a 2016 883 and seems like this is common issues with 16 and 17 models?

Any one have any insight on what might cause the leak or other things to look at for?

I had a 2008 1200C and had to change the gaskets a couple of times. My suspicion is that during the chroming process the rocker boxes become warped. Additionally, sloppy cleaning of the part after milling allows an uneven buildup in the gasket channels which totally screws up the evenness of the chrome layers and the gaskets do not seat properly.

After the first time, I used an airplane high temp sealant very liberally, and the problem never returned. Sad, this should not be happening.

Synthetic oil being more thin perhaps?
