fuel tank vent hose

fuel tank vent hose
The end of the fuel vent hose is right above the belt guard and tucked into the frame. While cleaning the bike I discovered that the paint on the frame at the end of the vent hose is soft and easy to peel off. My ride is 2017 Street glide special.
Any thoughts?
I will mention that on several occasions the gasoline smell in the garage has been quite strong after the bike has been in the garage for an hour or so after a ride.

Thanks Nomadmax, My heritage never gave off that strong of a gas smell so I was concerned. I was thnking that the " ball" that blocks the vent off in the event of a tipover was stuck open and in the course of steep lean angles that fuel may be spilling out and softening up the paint. I honestly did not think that just vapor would do eat up the paint.

Overflow tube handles the spillage from overfilling the tank.
The vent tube runs down the left side. I would post a pic but I just dropped the bike off to get the frame paint taken care of as a warranty issue.
When I had the 5k service done and a new set of bars put on I saw the tech working on the left side and he told me that this was the vent tube.
