Default Excessive heat!

If this has already been addressed please excuse this post and direct me to the previous thread.
Bought a new SGS in June within 2weeks told service that wife’s lower right leg was getting a lot of heat from engine. The first “fix” was a new header pipe. That did not help. We complained again and suggested that there may be an oil problem-as it appears to be using about a qt every 1000 mi. The inspection revealed no oil problem and was told that the consumption was not excessive as the specs say that 1/2 qt every k miles expected. They then suggested ways to move the passengers leg, brackets to raise the floorboards or winder boards. These did move the leg but did not reduce the heat and simply changed the location of the discomfort. We know that the catalytic converter is in the area and most likely responsible and the location was changed for 18. So without voiding the warranty what do you think should be tried next?
Thanks in advance

Coming from a 08 road glide there is no issue with heat with our 17 rgu.
They seem to have fixed the issue.

The catalytic converter on the M8 models is right by the passenger's right leg. My wife complained too. If you install the high flow exhaust system, the catalytic converter is moved from the right side to the slipons. I haven't done it but I have read it improves the heat generated next to the passenger's right leg. The part number is 64800059.

I personally would be more concerned with the bike using a quart of oil every thousand miles!! That's 5 quarts during Harleys recommended interval, there is no way they can say that's normal. My 2017 SGS uses zero oil between my 2500 mile interval, still on the full mark just like it was when it was changed. I think I would get a second, third and maybe forth opinion on that situation. Good luck with the heat problem also, sounds like your cat needs to go but only you can decide if that's an option.

Agreed. 6K and I haven't had to add an ounce of any fluids.

I would like to see those specs on the oil usage if you have it handy. That does seem excessive. As for the cat being moved for 18 I didn't know anything about that. Thought it was identical to the 17. My wife has also mentioned the heat from the right side on my 17. Only noticeable at a stop though.

Cat is not moved on the '18 from the '17 and even just a smidge back from the prior models. The optional SE full exhaust has the cats moved to the mufflers.

If warranty retention is of concern, how about removing the header and wrap it with exhaust kevlar wrap, that is sold even at some Harley dealers for 100 bux.
Then reinstall the header and reinstall the heat shielding.
Just make sure you wrap the converter end first and work your way forward towards the flanges.
This will give you 2 layers of insulation from the exhaust heat.
