I considered a 2017 M8 when they first came out. I told the salesman at the time I wanted to give Harley a year to get the "bugs" out before I made the change. The salesman told me "there are no bugs in this new engine, it has been thoroughly designed and tested". I made the case that any new design almost always has problems. Much to his displeasure I told him I would wait until 2018 to pull the trigger. Well it's now 2018 and I am still not confident pulling the trigger on this new motor. I do realize many have bought the new M8 and have not experienced any issues but there are enough that have that keep me on the sidelines and content with my 2013 Ultra Classic.

What I do though, is compete in the cones on this bike. I’m constantly in the friction zone, clutch in and out all the time. Rarely leaves first gear while at an event. In 400 miles I moved 8 ounces over to the primary.

So while it may be rpm driven, I don’t doubt it, I think it’s also “clutch use” driven.
That is interesting.
I don’t ride hard often either and aren’t hard on the clutch and have zero transfer.

Yeah, I can see that. I don’t think it is the only cause, but I can see it being a cause.

There’s a diaphragm behind the hole the clutch rod goes through that could pump oil when the clutch is actuated. I want to get rid of the barrier and see what happens.

Same here, I don’t use the clutch much. 5k on mine. Just checked my trans oil yesterday and it’s right in the center of the safe area. I’m hoping this problem doesn’t show up on my bike because I’m definitely not making it 2 years without voiding my warranty.

Can everyone agree that the hydraulic clutch is the one common denominator in the migration issue?

I do.........

That's why after their 3rd failed attempt of swapping parts or adding them in an effort to fix my migration issue, I'm now pushing really hard to get the MoCo to swap out my hydro clutch for a cable clutch as a test. (Not to mention I don't care for the hydro clutch much at all). After taking the bike to the dealership yesterday showing no fluid on the stick after about 300 miles, my SM is on my side and wants to do the swap as well. Hopefully we will have an answer on Tuesday or Wednesday about it.

If they go for it, we all want to know the results. As well as the complete details on the swap.

That's a given! If they do it, I think it would be the first one swapped out that I know of, so yeah, I'll report back on it for sure!
