Gotta make sure the tabs are aligned correctly. Some people use a screw driver to align them, others use a piece of copper pipe that's flattened. I went with an alignment tool.
Installed new bars yesterday and drove home. Had to pull them back more for me. So I did and took me 30 min just to get the switch back on. And if I knew HOW I did it that would help. Well the bars were still to forward so pulled them back more this morning. After 45 min, still haven't gotten the switch back on.
When the switch is removed, there are tabs inside that are easy to knock out of alignment. Some have great success flattening a piece of copper pipe, put that into the housing and turn until everything lines up.
That one does not fit unfortunately. I tried that and had to send it back, the Jim's is pricey, but fixes the alignment in about 2 seconds. It's a great tool to keep in the garage
Just a heads up. Next time you have to pull the speedo off. Just turn the switch to the ***. mode. That way you don't have to fuss with the switch. The cover comes right off with just turning it.

Agree with that.I never have had to pull ignition switch to get cover off.

Really? For a road glide? I could not get the Speedo cover off without removing the switch.
Btw a buddy of mine came over and was able to realign everything with a flathead screw driver.
