I totally applaud you for doing something different. That;s what it's all about, being different.

I don't have a Harley right now as mine was totaled and I'm just now starting to think about a new HD. I started watching your video and found it to be one of the best homemade instructional videos I've seen. I've saved this so I can use it later once I'm back in the HD club.

Thanks much. Being that the new 114 A/C is fairy open already (and the newest HD Heavy Breathers look almost asthmatic due to their shrunken size), I was wondering if I wider filter would suffice. Checked the K & N site, but they listed no Softail models whatsoever...

Great job on the mod and the video. Very helpful. I also like the looks of the M-8 cover. So much that I adapted one to my 2002 with a carb.

Was there a ram effect with the old one as it would appear so and was this lost? I saw the same question and maybe I missed the answer.

At at highway speed is that new vent still sucking in air or did you lose the pressures chamber if it existed? Can you feel air forced out the bottom? Was the tune after fixing a newer lean condition from increased air?

That being said, looks cool.

Ohhhh, yeah. Not much can be improved upon there. Those look awesome, too. The K&N might be larger by design, and get you what you want.

Ram air is a marketing myth. Atmospheric pressure does not increase at speed. The only thing that gets more air in the cylinders is forced induction via turbo or supercharger.

The benefit is more cold air, and making it easier for the engine to "inhale" through a freer-flowing filter. It could be said that my mod reduces some turbulence, also. It truly was more about something completely custom than anything else.

So...I did this Air cleaner mod to my stock ‘18 FLHTK, made the cut-out a tad larger. I really haven’t ridden it much yet, because of weather but I love the way it looks. Can’t wait till spring, gonna mount some good slip-ons and ride the hell outta it. It’s a couple years old but thanks for posting a great video.
