decat vs aftermarket headers

decat vs aftermarket headers
So what are the pro/cons of doing one versus the other?
Aside from the fact that if I buy a new set of headers, I can keep the stock pipes with cat intact.
I mean if aftermarket headers really give a performance increase, but more importantly to me, a better sound, then great! But if I can get the sound at least, and not loose any performance by decatting, then saving 6 or 7 hundred bucks seems the way to go.
Thanks for any info.

Volume increase with decatted stocker is minimal, the tone did change quit a bit and it is not for the better in my opinion. Mine now has a hollow tone that I'm not a fan of. I'm looking hard at the Fullsac MX pipe in hopes that it would even out my slip ons and provide a better tone.
Got that hollow sound a bit too. They were loud though.

When I decatted my 2014 SGS it made my Kerkers sound louder, not really any deeper or less deep (they sounded pretty deep already). On my 2017 CVO I bought used about month ago, it came with Vance & Hines header and their pipes (actually for sale now in the classifieds), and the exhaust sounds great. Nice and deep as well as a bit of a bark to it.
