Default CVO Heads question....

Does anyone know for sure if the 2016/7 CVO Street Glides have Screamin Eagle CNC ported heads, or just the "regular" heads? I can't see it specified anywhere....

I am on the fence about buying a new SGS but am waiting for the '18 announcement to see what changes. If it's nothing major then I may go and try to negotiate hard with my local dealer on a '17 CVO SG that they have on the shop floor.

It's interesting that the CVO's have been labeled Screamin' Eagles in the past, yet they come with none of the performance parts from the race department. I'm guessing based upon the dyno run numbers I've seen on the stock 17 CVO's, the heads are the same as what's on the 107".

Looks like the same cylinder heads. Part #'s only 1 digit off. Different color for the cylinder heads would do that. Black vs Granite Black.

Yeah - that's what I thought. The stock dyno numbers I am seeing (somewhere in the high 80 hp) would indicate they are stock heads to me.

So I think the 114" CVO motor is just a regular motor with Stage 1 and a cam.

I've read the cam is the same as the 107's. So that takes it down to the grey finish and AC?

The 2017 M8 CVO is a 4.5" stroke, 102 mm bore and 10.5:1 compression ratio. The 107 version is 4.375" stroke, 100 mm bore and 10:1 compression. The only other difference in the engines is the color they are painted and that the 107 comes in an oil cooled version and the CVO does not for 2017.

Thought the OP’s question was about whether the heads were CNC ported?

There should be no point in porting or removing the catalytic converter with multivalve heads which are usually for high revving engines. As the Harley info relates"the new heads actually over breathe so they compensated by closing the exhaust valves early"
Amazed that people are so slow to realize that this engine has new rules.
The M8 107 has become the new CVO adding 114 Stage 111 makes it more powerful than the 117. Go figure!
There is a case for porting older bikes. If you study any of the post 2014 touring heads or the M8 they are so well ported there would be little to gain, except bragging rights!
