Somebody sounds butthurt that they own batwing. I've owned both and the differences are not major, but the RG has a better stable feel in all aspects.

Riding the Columbia River Gorge with a brother and his Batwing, It was a windy day as most are in the Gorge. Looking in my mirror as he slowly fades farther and farther back fighting the wind. Not to hard to figure out, one fairing mounted to the steering and one not.

I have a friend who tried a RG for a year after riding EG's for a long time. I asked how he liked the RG fairing and he said he COULDN'T WAIT to get back to a batwing!! He hated the RG fairing.

I was surprised by this and asked for an explanation, because I had always thought the RG would work better. I only have batwing experience.

He said headwinds were fine on the RG, but strong side winds were bad news due to the extra side area of the RG fairing. He hated the feeling of the extra side pressure pushing on the bike in a strong side wind.

I think the Bat Wing is a better looking bike....... no doubt. I have never ridden a shark, but I dont think they look as good as a bat wing....

Everyone has their own personal opinion. I dont dislike the SG fairings, and test rode both of them. I like them both with a few little caveats. I felt like the SG was more enclosed, almost cramped in seating. I'm not a tall guy, but I like stretching out. But to me the main reason I got a RG was everybody and his brother has a batwing. I live in a neighborhood of about 400 houses and another 250 townhomes/condos/apartments. I bet there are a dozen batwings that I've seen.

Only one shark....

Edit: Not to mention that out of a dozen or so bikes at work, about 5 are batwings of some kind.....still only one shark.

I just traded my 17 RGU back in for a 17 Electra Glide Ultra Classic i will say the RG is a tad better on the highway riding. I just couldn't get the feel for the RG and it blows way to much wind over the rider for me. I find the EG a much sportier ride with a better wind resistance and it fits me a lot better. Didn't have the opportunity to test them like I should have. Just found it harder to maneuver with RG much happier with the Electra Glide.

Again, reading is obviously not your strong point, I've had 2 Roadglides and now a Street Glide. Both fabulous bikes, no difference in crosswinds, headwind.... the buffeting on the SG is worse stock but easily fixed with fangs.

Get over yourselves they're both great bikes.
Cant agree more. It seems people get bored every few weeks and post these bat vs sharks threads. They are both great bikes. To the OP what years were these 2 bikes because the rushmore batwing handles far better then the old one? Could of been the rider or the draft.

And that was my experience as well and my deciding factor to buy the batwing. I rode both back to back on a windy day on Lake Erie and between the side wind pushing the shark and the wind noise so much i had to blast the stereo to hear it and my passenger getting hit with the wind made up my mind. I think the shark is a great looking bike and really liked the lite steering and all but it wasnt for me. To each their own.
