Can a M8 motor fit in a Softail frame?
#22
Getting back to the original question, of course the M8 could fit in a softail frame. The twin cam is in the Rushmore touring frames, basically no big changes in the touring frames for 2017. Both the softails and dynas have twin cams, shouldn't be rocket science to mount the M8 into those platforms, HD did it in the touring models!!
Can't wait for the 2018's to come out and see what's next!!!

Maybe you need to take a better look at the 2017 Touring frame as there are some large changes made to fit the M8 engine. While it appears at a quick glance to be similar, it not at all.

No one has yet to figure out if the swing arm attaches to the transmission of an M8 like previous Tour and Dana TCs.
It would be much simpler to put the M8 in a Dana then a Softail.
Harley is a Union shop and sure the Union contracts may force Harley to still put out the TCbs till the next contract.
Sure Harley want's to work out all the bugs on the Tour riders before they jump into the others. But just like someone said, they can put the M8 into any bike line. The demand must justify the cost, however. Probably do little for the present Softail.

I really like the Dyna LowRider S as it comes with cruise and lots of Goodies. It can be a 117 for relatively cheap money. A local dealer has 6 of them but is selling them for $20 K when they should be $18k OTD. I have a stage 3 Road King M8 which is great for the Wife and I, but I miss the handling of the Dyna when I don't have my back seat Rev Limiter.
You know if they put the M8 in the Dyna the price will go up. Just have to wait and see.
Maybe they'll put the M8 in a Fat Bob which handles even better.
Just a side note both dealers are within 40 miles of me. (the one who did my M8 and won't put anything but Harley parts on my bike or Void warranty and the other has Half of the bikes on the showroom floor with aftermarket exhausts tuned by them with Powervision on their dyno.)
