Default Oil light came on

I was heading home last night after stopping at a bike night. Started up the RG and pulled out. noticed that my oil light came on. checked the oil pressure and it did not register just a dash instead of the usual OK.

pulled over and shut the bike down. turned the bike back on and started it again and everything was a-ok. came home, no issue, oil sensor showed the usual ok. Got up this morning and started her up this morning and no issue at all. the bike did not sound like it was starving for oil or that it was running hot. I will check the oil a little later (when the temp in the garage drops below 100 degree's). my thought an interment failure of the oil sensor. I will tell the dealer the next time I am in there or if it does it again. couldn't get the failure to repeat.

anyone else experience this

Early run M8's has all kinda issues with trash in the oil pump body blocking ports. Go see the dealer to see if your vin is in the bad batch run.

The only list I know of is the one for the bad clamps which my bike is in that group. I had a leak and got it fixed on warrantee before the recall came out. I am going to take it in since technically I am still on that recall list.

I can make my oil light come on by not tightening the gas cap enough after a fill up... still haven't figured out the connection between the two but I can get it to do it repeatably

If I remember correctly, the "dashes" indicate that the sensor is not being seen. Like the connector is unplugged or needs to be re-seated.

If you see a "Check Oil", that indicates the sensor is reading low oil pressure.

I could be completely wrong.

That's exactly what I figured. I was thinking the sensor may be failing. at any rate, next time in to a dealer, I will have them check it out.
